Volume includes clinical case studies of hospital patients compiled while student at the medical schools of New York University and the University of Pennsylvania, and other medical notes; case studies of Confederate soldiers at the General Hospital in Staunton, Va.; medical prescriptions; and lines of verse written by Asa Hartz (i.e., George McKnight) while a prisoner of war at Johnson's Island, Ohio.
